The Baptism of Jesus

The baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist in the Jordan River is a pivotal event recorded in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. This moment is marked by the descent of the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove and a voice from heaven declaring, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.

Jesus received power and authority after his baptism in the Jordan River, when the Holy Spirit descended upon him and a voice from heaven declared him to be the beloved Son of God.

Luke 4:1 says that Jesus was “filled with the Holy Spirit” and led by the Spirit into the wilderness, where he fasted and was tempted by the devil. He overcame every temptation by the power of the Spirit and returned to Galilee “by the power of the Spirit” (Luke 4:14).
